Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Faster charging is coming – finally!

Samsung has long clung to comparatively slow charging speeds. While other manufacturers like Xiaomi, Oppo, and OnePlus already offer wireless charging at 50 watts and more, Samsung remained stuck at 15 watts. Now, clues in the One UI 8.5 code point to a significant improvement.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Faster charging is coming – finally!

The upcoming Galaxy S26 series is expected to support wireless charging at up to 25 watts and wired charging at 60 watts for the first time. With this move, the company is abandoning a technology that has been considered outdated for years.

Previous models required about 1.5 hours to charge fully. With the new generation, this process could be reduced to 30-40 minutes. Just ten minutes of charging should replenish about half the battery capacity. Wireless charging speeds are also significantly improved. Instead of 20 percent in half an hour, 50-60 percent could be achieved in the future. For users, this means less waiting time and greater flexibility in everyday life.

This move is no coincidence. Many customers criticized the slow charging speeds of the Galaxy series. At the same time, the competition focused on ever-increasing wattages and shorter charging times. Samsung is now responding to market pressure and adjusting its strategy. New charging chips and improved cooling enable faster speeds without compromising safety. Furthermore, the manufacturer aims to strengthen the market position of its premium models and score points with a clear selling point.

The impact on everyday life is noticeable. Commuters can charge their devices quickly, gamers need fewer breaks, and travelers benefit from fast top-ups. This makes the Galaxy S26 series significantly more competitive, even if it doesn’t quite reach the top speeds offered by Xiaomi or Realme, which already boast 100 watts and more, both wired and wireless.

Samsung is finally abandoning its conservative charging policy and taking its flagship phones to a new level technically. With 60 watts of wired and 25 watts of wireless charging, the Galaxy S26 series is finally more practical for everyday use and closes the gap with the competition. Whether the manufacturer will improve upon this in the next generation remains to be seen. However, fast charging has become one of the most important criteria for many buyers.
