YouTube Music Premium has a serious bug: Offline songs get stuck, and users only see the loading circle.
Especially during the peak season for Christmas playlists, numerous YouTube Music Premium subscribers are complaining. Previously downloaded tracks can no longer be played. While streaming, the same tracks play without issue, but offline playback remains silent and displays an endless spinning circle.
Many users are reporting that songs they saved just a few days ago no longer play. The problem affects various devices, including the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Pixel 10 Pro, older Samsung models, and even connected smartwatches. Interestingly, iPhones are not affected, suggesting an Android-specific issue.
The causes are currently only speculative. Some users see a connection to the recent Android update, while others suspect a conflict with YouTube Music's new year-in-review feature. Another user reported that the problem occurred immediately after renewing their premium subscription. There has been no official confirmation of these theories so far.
Attempts to fix the error manually are largely unsuccessful. Clearing the cache or resetting the app data doesn't help. Installing older versions only works temporarily. Completely disabling downloads lets you stream, but you lose offline mode. The only working solution is to delete all saved titles and wait for an official fix.
The YouTube team addressed the issue in a Reddit thread, asking affected users to submit feedback about the app. However, a concrete fix is still pending. Until then, users can only hope for a quick update or use the streaming mode.
