Apple Home Hub: The base is supposed to be a robot stand.

Apple's long-awaited living room helper could suddenly start moving.

Apple Home Hub: The base is supposed to be a robot stand.

Apple is known to be working on a new Home Hub, which is intended to be more than just a smart speaker with a screen. According to recent reports, the device will have a robotic, swiveling base that can actively orient the display and other components.

The hub is intended to serve as a central control center for the smart home, with a strong focus on AI and voice control.

Between the wall mount and the robot base

Previously, two versions were mentioned: a wall-mounted version and a model with a speaker stand for a table or sideboard. The new idea is a movable base that can apparently react independently.

Display follows users

The robotic design should ensure that the screen rotates towards the person speaking. Sensors will detect who is in the room. This could differentiate the Home Hub from an iPad.

Apple naturally doesn't reveal any technical details. But the goal is clear: more presence, more attention, less of a "static" smart home feel.

Differentiation from table robots

What's interesting is its connection to another project: Apple is reportedly planning a true tabletop robot with an arm, rotating display, and "visual personality" for 2027. The Home Hub could be a kind of precursor to this.

Launch with new Siri.

The market launch is expected in the coming months – possibly coinciding with the update to iOS 26.4 and a significantly expanded Siri.

Whether the movable base is already standard or just an option remains unclear. One thing is certain: Apple is suddenly taking a spatial approach to smart home technology.
