Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: New 24 MP mode combats oversharpening
Samsung is finally addressing one of the biggest annoyances with its camera software. According to leaker Ice Universe, the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a new default mode for 24-megapixel photos.
This mode not only delivers more detail than the usual 12 megapixels, but also drastically reduces aggressive post-processing. Users will thus get significantly more natural-looking images without purple fringing or artificial over-sharpening.
The integration happens directly in the regular camera app and even works in portrait mode. So you no longer have to awkwardly navigate to the Camera Assistant or use the Expert RAW app, as earlier rumors suggested.
However, there is one small drawback regarding its suitability for snapshots. The smartphone takes about three seconds to process these high-quality images.
Samsung is reserving this feature exclusively for the Galaxy S26 series. Owners of older models will currently miss out. We expect the official unveiling of the new flagship phones, including this camera update, at the end of February 2026.
