Huawei Mate XTs Officially Launched, Second Generation Trifold Smartphone

Huawei has officially launched its latest trifold smartphone, the Huawei Mate XTs, in the Chinese market on Thursday (September 4, 2025) local time. This smartphone is the successor to the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design. The Huawei Mate XTs is the second generation of Huawei's trifold phones. In terms of design, the Huawei Mate XTs still features the 'Z' folding mechanism like its predecessor. However, this trifold phone relies on a newer chipset that is claimed to be faster, has more capable cameras, and offers a broader range of colors than the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design.

The Huawei Mate XTs relies on the Kirin 9020 chipset to enhance its performance. The Kirin 9020 chip is claimed to be faster than the Kirin 9010 found in the Huawei Mate XT. The Kirin 9020 chipset promises a performance increase of up to 36 percent. This chipset is combined with 16 GB of RAM and storage of up to 1 TB. The ultra-wide camera of the Huawei Mate XTs has also been 'upgraded' to 40 MP from the previous 12 MP. This camera uses a 13 mm lens and is accompanied by a primary 50 MP camera (24 mm, f/1.4-f/4.0) and a periscope camera of 12 MP (125 mm).

Lastly, another improvement comes from the color options. This time, the Huawei Mate XTs offers deep purple and white. Previously, the Huawei Mate XTs foldable phone only came in black and red.

Specifications of the Huawei Mate XTs

Include an OLED display measuring 10.2 inches, an aspect ratio of 16:11, a resolution of 2,232 x 3,184 pixels (or 3K resolution), a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and a maximum brightness of 1,800 nits. Two hinges support the display. The hinge on the left side of the display can fold the screen outward, while the hinge on the right can fold the screen inward.

When one part of the screen is folded, two-thirds of it measures 7.9 inches (2,048 x 2,232 pixels). Meanwhile, the secondary screen spans 6.4 inches (1,008 x 2,232 pixels). The thickness dimensions are around 3.8 mm when unfolded, while when folded, they become 12.8 mm. Its body weight is 298 grams. The Huawei Mate XTs is also equipped with a digital pen (stylus) like the previous version. The Huawei Mate XTs is supported by a battery with a capacity of 5,600 mAh that supports 66-watt fast charging, 50-watt wireless charging, and 7.5-watt reverse wireless charging.

The operating system being run is HarmonyOS 5.1. Like other Huawei phones, the Mate XTs are not equipped with Google Mobile Services (GMS). This means users will not find pre-installed Google apps, such as YouTube, Gmail, or Google Maps, which are usually available on Android devices. Instead, Huawei offers AppGallery, where users can download Google applications.
