Will Ads on Xiaomi Phones Disappear? Thanks to HyperOS 3
Advertisements are a frequent complaint among Xiaomi smartphone users. They often disrupt user activity while using the phone. The good news is, Xiaomi is reportedly developing a feature that will give users more control, including over ads on their phones.
This feature is said to complement the HyperOS 3 user interface ( UI), which is currently only available in China. In this latest version of the UI, users will be able to completely disable ads.
This leak was revealed by industry sources and Xiaomi brand observers. They speculate that the Chinese company may introduce four main options in HyperOS 3
Second , a premium ad-free package is available for a fee. This option will be optional for users willing to pay a fee to eliminate annoying ads.
Third , Xiaomi may regulate ad exposure based on the company's operational region. However, further details about this option have not been revealed yet.
The fourth option is that Xiaomi will minimize ad exposure in system applications, making the system interface cleaner and less distracting. Despite the speculation, HyperOS 3 will reportedly still have ads as part of its UI.
So far, Xiaomi has taken several steps to minimize ads on its devices. This includes providing ad settings controls to allow users to specifically customize which ads appear. Xiaomi phone users are also given the option to opt out of the display when installing certain systems, making it easier to avoid further exposure to advertisements. Xiaomi has also reduced its advertising exposure, although it is still minimal.
Will Xiaomi Change Its Business Model
If the above rumors are actually implemented, then this option will mark a change in Xiaomi's business model, one that diverges from the current approach.
As reported by Giz China, placing advertisements on Xiaomi's mobile phone system has become the company's main source of income, allowing it to still cut the selling price of mobile phones to consumers.
Now, if advertising on Xiaomi's mobile system is minimized, the company will need to find other ways to generate new funds.
According to rumors, alternatives that Xiaomi could consider include offering premium subscriptions for select services, deeper integration across the Xiaomi ecosystem, and providing cloud storage options or additional features. This way, subscribed users can get a cleaner UI display without annoying pop-ups or banners that sometimes interfere with activities on the phone.
Additionally, the performance of the mobile system is likely to be smoother, as it will not need to process advertisements. However, it's worth noting that these options are still just rumors. Xiaomi has not yet provided further confirmation regarding the above speculation.
