Fraimic: E-Ink picture frame with voice control and AI

Fraimic is a digital photo frame concept with a color ink display ( E Ink Spectra 6) that creates artwork or displays your own images using voice commands. Unlike traditional displays, this one is not illuminated but reflects light, similar to printed media, providing a more natural look.

Control is local: By tapping the frame, you activate the microphone and speak a desired image (" sunset over the sea ") – the underlying AI ( OpenAI model) generates the image directly on the device. Users can also upload their own photos or artwork via the web interface, without relying on cloud services, subscriptions, or apps.

A key difference from conventional digital photo frames is their energy consumption: Since E Ink only requires power when changing the picture, Fraimic promises a battery life of up to five years per charge.

The frames are currently available in two sizes—13.3 inches (approximately 14 × 18 inches) and 31.5 inches (approximately 24 × 36 inches)—with plans to offer additional versions.

Fraimic was funded through a Kickstarter campaign with a funding goal of $10,000, which was exceeded several times. Delivery is planned for May 2026, although crowdfunding projects are subject to delays.
