Google’s AI revolution: How Gemini 3, Vibe Coding and the return of the founders are reshaping the company
In late November 2025, CEO Sundar Pichai announced a profound realignment of Google in a conversation with Logan Kilpatrick. After years of preparation, the complete integration of artificial intelligence into products and internal processes is now underway.
Already, more than a quarter of the newly written code originates from algorithms, the market capitalisation stands at $3.86 trillion, and founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are more actively involved again. With Gemini 3, Vibe Coding, and a culture reminiscent of the early startup days, a new phase is beginning for Google.
A key aspect is automated software development. Pichai explained that over 25 per cent of code is now generated by AI. The concept of “Vibe Coding,” coined by Andrej Karpathy, enables even non-technical Employees to create applications using voice commands. For example, a marketing employee can make a survey app by simply giving instructions to the AI. Microsoft reported in spring 2025 that AI already generated 30 per cent of its code. However, Pichai emphasised that caution is advised with critical systems due to security risks.
The launch of Gemini 3 on November 18, 2025, is considered a crucial turning point. Since the beginning of the year, the share price has risen by 70 per cent, and its valuation now ranks behind Apple and Nvidia. Gemini 3 outperforms both OpenAI’s GPT-5 and Anthropic’s Claude in benchmarks. Pichai explained that years of groundwork are now bearing fruit and that development was deliberately carried out in steps.
Also noteworthy is the cultural shift. Larry Page and Sergey Brin are more active again, bringing back the original spirit of innovation. Brin meets regularly with employees, discusses projects, and helps to reduce bureaucratic hurdles at Gemini. Pichai describes the company’s atmosphere as similar to the early years, with close collaboration and direct communication.
The journey began in 2016 with Google’s declaration that it would become an “AI First” company. From 2018 to 2022, the infrastructure was built, including the merger of Google Brain and DeepMind. The first Gemini models appeared in 2023 and 2024, but these were not yet ready for market. 2025, with Gemini 3 and Vibe Coding, marks the transition to full implementation.
The crucial question remains whether Google can overtake Apple and Nvidia with this strategy, and how secure Vibe Coding actually is in complex systems.
