Samsung pulls the plug: This Galaxy smartphone will no longer be manufactured.

According to a report, Samsung will not be releasing a successor to the Galaxy S25 Edge. The main reason is said to be weak sales figures – Apple is also struggling.

Samsung pulls the plug: This Galaxy smartphone will no longer be manufactured.

Samsung will no longer release the originally planned Galaxy S26 Edge and will instead focus on the Galaxy S26+, which is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2026. According to "The Korea Economic Daily," the company is scrapping its Edge variant, which was expected for 2026.

Samsung and Apple: Demand for thin smartphones disappoints

The report attributes the decision to the weak sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone Air. According to "Android Headlines," buyers prefer devices that, despite their slim design, don't compromise battery life or camera performance.

Technical limitations and battery technology

The Galaxy S25 Edge's very thin casing resulted in a comparatively small 3,900 mAh battery and the omission of a telephoto camera. At the same time, Apple reportedly reduced iPhone Air production by around 1 million units back in October.

Samsung has not yet adopted silicon-carbon batteries, which are already being used in particularly thin foldable devices in China, and according to the report, considers extremely flat designs without this technology to be of little use.

Samsung recently began rolling out its new December security update. Galaxy users are urged to install it promptly. The new version addresses 57 vulnerabilities.
