Polar launches outdoor sports watch with 10-day battery life
Polar’s new Street X sports watch focuses on robust technology and a relatively long battery life. The model is strongly reminiscent of Garmin’s Instinct series.
The Finnish company Polar expands its portfolio with a sports watch called Street X, which is positioned in the growing segment of robust outdoor and hybrid sports watches.
The Street X combines classic training features with a comparatively durable casing and long battery life – an approach strongly reminiscent of the Garmin Instinct 3.
At its heart is a 1.28-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 416 × 416 pixels and 325 ppi, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The housing is made of reinforced polymer with an eight-screw construction and meets the military standard MIL-STD-810H.
The watch is water-resistant up to WR50 and weighs 48 grams with the strap, measuring 45 × 45 × 13.8 millimeters.
Polar Street X: Availability and price
For positioning, the Street X uses a single-frequency GPS in combination with a compass and barometer, including basic navigation and turn-by-turn directions – meaning no offline maps. The hardware is more efficient than powerful: a 275 MHz processor and 32 MB of memory are available.
Battery life is a key selling point. Polar claims up to 10 days in smartwatch mode, up to 43 hours of training with continuous GPS, and up to 170 hours in power-saving mode. This puts the watch in the same range as classic outdoor models and ahead of many AMOLED smartwatches.
Polar uses its own Precision Prime heart rate sensors and comprehensive analysis functions such as Training Load Pro and Nightly Recharge. Sleep-tracking features, including HRV, skin temperature, and sleep-stage analysis, complement this. Over 170 sport profiles are supported.
For the first time in a Polar watch, there is an integrated LED flashlight with white and red light, controlled directly from the watch. It also includes typical smartwatch features such as notifications, music control, and widgets. The Polar Street X is available now in several colors for €250.
