Legendary PS2 Game "Dynasty Warriors 3" Coming to PS5, Launching in 2026
Dynasty Warriors 3 , the legendary PlayStation 2 game that reigned supreme , is confirmed to be returning in a remastered version. Koei Tecmo, along with developer Omega Force, announced that Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered will launch on March 19, 2026.
This latest version is not only released on the next-gen console PlayStation 5, but also available cross-platform on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
" Dynasty Warriors 3 was the first game in the Dynasty Warriors series to feature the mechanics that would become the series' mainstay. It was also the first game in the series to sell over one million copies," Koei Tecmo said.
Dynasty Warriors 3 was first released on September 20, 2001, for the PS2 console and became one of the most important series that made the hack and slash genre game franchise increasingly popular.
The game's distinctive feature is its one-versus-thousand-man battle format on a vast battlefield. Gamers can play as heroes from the Chinese imperial era in Dynasty Warriors .
In the remastered edition, the game will be rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5, resulting in more detailed visuals, sleeker battlefields, and smoother animations.
There are more than 40 characters that will be available, with an updated battle system to remain the same as the original version but more comfortable to play.
This remastered version of Dynasty Warriors 3 will also include all additional content from the Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends expansion, featuring seven new storylines, bodyguard customization options, additional weapons, and four challenge modes.
According to Tomohiko Sho, producer of Dynasty Warriors, the remaster will focus on recreating the classic feel of Dynasty Warriors 3, incorporating enhancements to meet modern console standards. Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered will be available globally starting March 19, 2026. However, there is no official price for the game yet.
