Hidden features in your Samsung phone: These tricks you should know

Samsung users can improve the performance of their smartphones performance in just a few easy steps. We explain the most essential tips for optimizing the Galaxy S24.

Hidden features in your Samsung phone: These tricks you should know

Samsung's Galaxy smartphones have been among the most powerful devices for years. With the Galaxy S24 series, the manufacturer has set new standards again in 2024.

In addition to the premium hardware, the series impresses with a sophisticated software package that offers many practical AI functions and clever system tools. With just a few adjustments, anyone using one of the new models can get significantly more out of their device.

More display space, better resolution: How to optimize your Galaxy smartphone

One of the first changes concerns the screen resolution. By default, many models are set to Full HD, although the Galaxy S24+ and the Ultra flagship offer a sharper QHD panel. This option can be enabled in the display settings, ensuring crisper text and more precise details.

The device's controls can also be customized. Users can switch to swipe gestures instead of the classic navigation bar with buttons at the bottom of the screen. This feels more modern and creates more space on the display.

Personalize widgets: These are the options available to Galaxy owners

Restricting quick access to the Samsung Wallet is hidden. Although the app offers practical features, such as in countries with digital ID documents, many users accidentally open it using the swipe gesture from the home screen. This behavior can easily be turned off in the app's settings.

Since the introduction of One UI 6.1, widgets have also been added to the lock screen. Those who want to see their step count, weather information, or calendar entries at a glance can add them below the clock. The optional Good Lock app allows for even more personalization, allowing you to change the lock screen layout, add stickers, and animated clocks, among other things.

Galaxy S24: Improve key assignment and audio options

The side button's function can also be reassigned. Instead of Bixby or the camera, it can, for example, open power mode or launch any other app. In the advanced settings, you can specify the desired action with a single or double press.

Another tip concerns audio quality: Enabling Dolby Atmos creates significantly more spatial sound, ideal for movies or games. The option is found in the sound and vibration settings, where you can customize the equalizer.

Better overview and individual color design: How Samsung users benefit

In terms of design, One UI can match the color system-wide to the background image. The color palette changes the accent colors in the shortcuts and the app icons, giving the user interface a more harmonious appearance.

The camera settings will please photo and video enthusiasts. Although the S24 Ultra supports 8K recording, only Full HD is enabled by default. Those seeking sharper videos should switch to UHD at 60 frames per second.

Notifications can also be displayed in more detail. In the settings, you can choose between a compact preview and an expanded view and specify which apps are allowed to send pop-ups.

Automatic restart prevents software problems.

A practical, often overlooked feature is the automatic reboot. Scheduling this weekly keeps the system running smoothly and avoids minor software issues. Battery protection is equally valid: Instead of constantly charging the battery 100 per cent, you can lower the limit to 80 per cent to significantly extend its lifespan.

Owners of the Galaxy S24 Ultra also benefit from the customizable S Pen. The "Air Command" menu allows you to customize shortcuts such as text translation, notes, or image magnification.
