X Tests New Link View on iOS to Increase User Engagement

X, the social media platform owned by billionaire Elon Musk, is testing a new feature that will make it easier for users to open links while still browsing X.

X Tests New Link View on iOS to Increase User Engagement

“We’re testing a new link experience, starting on iOS — to make it easier for your followers to interact with your posts while exploring links,” wrote Head of Product X, Nikita Bier, in her post.

This new capability was launched due to many users complaining that posts that included links tended to have lower reach.

The reason is that when the link is opened, the browser will cover the post display, so users often forget to give a like or reply.

“As a result, X doesn’t get a clear signal about whether the content is good or not,” Bier further explained.

With this update, X changes the display so that posts automatically shrink to the bottom of the screen when a link is opened. This way, users can still react or comment without having to close the link page.

"To help get a better signal, posts will now be minimized to the bottom of the page so people can still react while reading," he added.

X also reminded creators to keep their posts engaging and informative. "Posts should be able to stand on their own as good content, so write solid captions," Bier concluded.
