Apple Watch: How to charge correctly

Since the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple’s smartwatch supports fast charging – here’s how to use it.

Apple Watch: How to charge correctly

Charging is noticeably faster with the Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3. According to Apple, the Series 11 charges from 0 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes, while the Ultra 3 charges from 0 to 80 percent in approximately 45 minutes. Older models like the Series 7 through 10, as well as the Ultra 1 and 2, also benefit from fast charging. Crucially, it’s not just the watch itself that matters, but also the right accessories.

You will need these accessories for fast charging.

New Apple Watches come with a special USB-C magnetic cable (model A2515) included in the packaging, but without a power adapter. It differs from the standard cable by having an aluminum ring on the charging element.

Those who want to equip multiple charging locations can also purchase additional cables separately for around €29. Important: Only this cable allows fast charging – simpler alternatives are insufficient.

Make sure you use the correct power supply.

A compatible USB-C power adapter is also required, but is not included for environmental reasons. Apple recommends a power adapter with at least 5 watts and the USB-PD standard. Officially supported chargers are 18, 20, 29, 30, 61, 87, or 96 watts. Alternatively, third-party devices, such as Anker’s, are suitable.
