Sony Xperia 10 VII finally receives Android 16: New features and improvements.
Sony continues its Android 16 update rollout and is now distributing the update to the Xperia 10 VII, which was released in September. Previously, the Xperia 1 VII, Xperia 1 VI, and Xperia 10 VI had already received the new Android version. The update is delivered over-the-air and has the build number 72.1.A.2.65. With a download size of approximately 1 GB, a fast internet connection is recommended.
The update is currently available in Europe and Japan, with further regions such as Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and Hong Kong, as well as unlocked devices in Japan, to follow. It brings numerous new features, including new focus modes that block notifications to prevent interruptions while working, driving, or sleeping.
Additionally, Android 16 for the Xperia 10 VII offers optimised image settings. A new "Recommended" option makes it easier to choose the ideal display quality, and white balance can now be adjusted directly. Users can also turn Side Sense on or off more quickly and receive instructions for using multi-window and pop-up windows.
The lock screen settings can now be accessed directly from the home screen. The Cast function in the quick settings menu allows you to mirror content to compatible TVs. Additionally, there are new ways to view the battery status via the device settings.
Xperia 10 VII owners can manually check for the update via Settings -> About phone -> Software update. Before installation, Sony recommends creating a backup and ensuring the battery is at least 50% charged. In addition to new features, the update also provides general stability improvements for the device.
