iOS 26.2 with a new screen flash feature for notifications

With iOS 26.2, Apple introduces a small but practical feature that ensures no notification is missed.

The new feature is located in the Accessibility settings under Settings → Accessibility → Audio/Visual. Previously, users could activate the camera flash here to light up for notifications, primarily intended to help people with hearing impairments but also popular with anyone who prefers to be notified visually.

The display can now also flash.

New in iOS 26.2 is the "Screen" option: This causes the display to briefly flash brightly even when a notification arrives. It's like a built-in flash and works particularly well when the Always-On Display is deactivated or the iPhone is lying face up on a table.

Users can also activate the new option in combination with the LED flash for maximum visibility. This provides a new way for users without an Apple Watch, who otherwise rely on haptic feedback, to ensure they never miss a notification.

Other new features in iOS 26.2

Besides this hidden new feature, iOS 26.2 brings other functions: AI-generated chapters in podcasts, a redesigned Apple News interface, offline lyrics in Apple Music, and new "Urgent" alerts in the Reminders app. The release is expected next month.
