WhatsApp launches an Apple Watch app—here are the new features.

WhatsApp has introduced a new app for the Apple Watch. Anyone with an Apple Watch Series 4 (running watchOS 10) or later can download the new app.

In addition to reading and replying to messages, this enables some new functions that were previously unavailable:

• Call notifications: You can see who called without having to look at your mobile phone.
• Full news: You can read complete news articles – even long texts are now visible.
• Voice messages: You can now record and send them.
• Responding to messages: You can now also reply to received messages with emojis.
• Media experience: Images and stickers are now displayed clearly and distinctly on the Apple Watch.
• Chat history: When reading messages, you can now see more of the chat history on-screen.

WhatsApp emphasizes that privacy remains guaranteed and that personal messages and calls are protected by end-to-end encryption.
